I have made it a priority to listen and learn a great deal during my first months at Trinity. I want to share some of my impressions about the tremendous connections that characterize Trinity University: connections that make departments strong, connections that bring alumni home, and connections that link us to San Antonio as our home community.

Life on the Trinity campus has shifted into an exciting pace of classes, lectures, athletic events, and campus activities that characterize the vibrant nature of the Trinity experience. Tonight I have the opportunity to share some of the stimulating and forward-thinking initiatives that are happening at Trinity by kicking off a 22-city listening tour across the country to visit with Trinity alumni.

The beginning of the fall academic semester has always been one of my favorite times of the year. Even after working nearly 30 years on college campuses, I am still energized by the arrival of new students, the return of continuing students, and the opening year preparation by faculty and staff.

My summer of "discovery" at Trinity has brought me closer to an understanding of some of the deep connections and passion our alumni have for the University.

Today marks the beginning of my Trinity journey and what I hope will be the start of many years of service to this remarkable University.
